Paid every month. Not taxed as income. Raised by law with the same cost of living adjustment as Social Security. Your VA compensation is the most dependable money in your retirement, and it should be properly incorporated into a financial plan.
Woobie gets veterans the rating they earned. Retirable is an SEC registered fiduciary firm that has helped more than 50,000 people plan a retirement. Neither of us could do the other half, so we built one offer together: a retirement plan that starts from your VA rating instead of ignoring it.
A 100 percent rating pays $47,263 a year, tax free, indexed to inflation. To draw that much from a portfolio at a four percent withdrawal rate you would need roughly $1.18 million, and more than that once you account for the tax you would owe on the withdrawals.
At 70 percent the equivalent is about $543,000. Most veterans have never once been told this, and so they plan as though it were not there.
Illustration only, using a four percent annual withdrawal assumption and current VA rates. Not a projection of any actual portfolio or of your results.
No cost. Nothing to sign on the call.
If you choose to have Retirable manage your money, Woobie members get the partnership rate rather than the standard one. The advisor puts the number in writing before you commit to anything.
Retirable plans around six areas for every client. Here is what each one actually means when there is a VA rating in the picture.

No. VA disability compensation is not means tested. It does not go down because you have savings, investments, or income from a job. Nothing you say on the call is reported to the VA, and Retirable has no connection to the VA or to any government agency.
One genuine exception to raise on the call: VA Pension, and benefits like Aid and Attendance, are different from disability compensation, and those are income and asset tested. If you receive VA Pension, tell your advisor at the start. It changes the advice.
The presentation, the 45 minute call and the written Blueprint cost nothing, and you can walk away with all three. There is no card required and nothing to sign.
If you later choose to have Retirable manage your money, Retirable charges an advisory fee based on the assets it manages for you. Your advisor gives you the exact figure and the fee schedule in writing before you agree to anything, and Woobie members get the partnership rate rather than the standard one. There are no commissions and no products, so the fee is the only way Retirable earns anything from you.
Directly, so you can weigh it. Retirable pays Woobie a referral fee for veterans who become Retirable clients. That is a conflict of interest and it gives us a reason to recommend Retirable over somebody else, which is why we are telling you on the page rather than in a footnote.
What it does not do is change your fee. Before you become a client, Retirable is required to give you its own written disclosure of this arrangement. Read it. If the Blueprint call is useful and you never hire them, that is a completely fine outcome and we still consider the partnership to have worked.
No, and this is the main reason the two companies did this together. A rating going from 50 percent to 80 percent changes your guaranteed income by more than eleven thousand dollars a year, which changes the entire plan. Doing the claim first and the plan two years later means doing the plan twice.
Put your real situation on the form. The Woobie side looks at the rating, the Retirable side plans around both the number you have today and the number you are likely to end up with.
Not to take the Blueprint call. Retirable works with people across a wide range of balances, and if your advisor thinks you would be better served doing something simpler on your own, the honest answer is part of what you are getting. Ask about account tiers and the fee schedule on the call.
A licensed, U.S. based Retirable advisor acting as a fiduciary, which means they are required to put your interests ahead of their own. They are paid a salary, so there is no version of this call where they make more money by steering you somewhere. If you go on to become a client, you keep the same person rather than being handed to a service team.
Not to get the Blueprint. It is built from what you tell your advisor. Moving or consolidating accounts only comes up if you decide you want Retirable managing them, and that is a separate decision you make later, in writing.
Then use this as a second opinion, and bring one question to your existing advisor afterwards: how did you factor my VA compensation into my income floor and my tax bracket? If the answer is a blank look, you have learned something for the price of 45 minutes. If they have it handled, you have learned something better.
Advisory services. Advisory services are offered through Retirable, Inc., an SEC registered investment adviser, firm number 307472. Registration with the SEC does not imply a certain level of skill or training. Retirable’s Form ADV is available at adviserinfo.sec.gov.
Investment risk. Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance is not a guarantee or a reliable indicator of future results. Advisory services and investments are not bank deposits and are not FDIC insured. No outcome described on this page is guaranteed.
Not advice. Nothing on this page is investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security, or an offer of any specific service. Consult a qualified professional about your own circumstances before acting.
Woobie’s role and compensation. Woobie is not an investment adviser or a broker dealer and does not provide investment, tax or legal advice. Woobie receives compensation from Retirable, Inc. for referring clients. This is a material conflict of interest and gives Woobie a financial incentive to recommend Retirable rather than another firm. Before you enter into an advisory relationship, Retirable is required to provide you with its own written disclosure of this arrangement. Woobie is not a client of Retirable and the statements on this page are not testimonials or endorsements from an advisory client.
Government affiliation. Neither Woobie nor Retirable is affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense or any other government agency. Woobie does not file claims on your behalf. VA benefits are administered solely by the VA, and free claims assistance is available from accredited representatives and Veterans Service Organizations at no charge.
VA figures. Monthly compensation rates shown are the published rates for a veteran alone with no dependents, effective December 1, 2025, taken from va.gov, and are subject to change. Your own amount depends on your combined rating, dependents and any special monthly compensation. Cost of living adjustments are set by law to match the Social Security adjustment and are not guaranteed in any particular amount.
Tax treatment. VA disability compensation is generally excluded from gross income for federal tax purposes. State treatment and individual circumstances vary, and tax law changes. This page does not provide tax advice. Consult a tax professional.
Hypothetical illustrations. The portfolio equivalence figures on this page are hypothetical illustrations calculated from current VA rates and a four percent annual withdrawal assumption used purely to express scale. They are not projections, do not reflect fees, taxes, sequence of returns or any actual portfolio, and should not be relied on as an estimate of your results.
Member terms. Woobie member pricing on Retirable’s advisory fee is subject to Retirable’s current fee schedule and agreement. Exact terms are confirmed in writing by your advisor before you become a client. Availability may change without notice.
Contact consent. Submitting the form authorizes Woobie to transmit your responses to Retirable, Inc. and authorizes Retirable to contact you by phone, text or email, including by automated means, about retirement planning. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text or by writing to support@woobie.io.
Woobie does not file VA claims on your behalf and is not a substitute for an accredited representative. We provide medical Consulting and education so you can file an accurate, supported claim. Timelines described on this page are targets, not guarantees, and VA decisions vary by case.
