You booked the consult. You showed up. You had the conversation.
Now what?
If you’re wondering what happens after your Woobie consult — whether you’ve just finished or you’re preparing for the next steps — this guide is for you.
We’ll walk you through what to expect, how the process works, and how we provide the medical evidence you need to move forward with clarity.
Step 1: We Review Your Medical History Together
During your call, we gathered details about:
- Your medical conditions
- Your service history
- Your clinical goals and questions
- Existing medical documentation
Now, our team reviews everything to determine:
- The clinical relationship between your symptoms and service
- What medical documentation or objective testing might still be needed
- The presence of clear diagnoses and functional limitations in your record
You’ll receive a follow-up summary and next clinical steps tailored to your medical situation.
Step 2: You Decide Whether to Move Forward
This part is important: you’re always in control.
If you’re ready to move forward, we’ll begin our medical evaluation process — but there’s no pressure. Some veterans:
- Want to gather more medical records first
- Prefer to speak with a family member before deciding
- Need time to sit with the information
Whatever your pace, we’re here to provide medical support.
Step 3: We Begin Developing Your Medical Evidence
If you choose to work with Woobie, our independent providers will begin the clinical work required for your medical evidence.
That could include:
- Reviewing service records and private medical documentation
- Providing an independent nexus letter based on clinical judgment
- Conducting medical evaluations to document functional limitations
- Providing clinical findings for use in a DBQ (Disability Benefits Questionnaire)
We focus on ensuring your medical file is complete and clinically accurate. Our providers walk you through the medical findings and help you understand the symptoms being documented.
Step 4: You Submit Your Evidence to the VA
When your medical documentation is ready, you will submit the documents directly to the VA. While we do not file or track claims for you, the medical evidence we provide is designed for use with various VA pathways, such as:
- A new claim
- A supplemental claim
- A rating increase
- Or an appeal requiring medical clarification
Once you have submitted your evidence, we remain available to answer clinical questions or provide additional medical clarification if the VA requests more information regarding our findings.
Step 5: We Provide Ongoing Medical Support
The VA process can take time. Our role is to ensure your medical documentation remains clear and accessible throughout.
You’ll get:
- Guidance on understanding medical terminology in your records
- A dedicated team to answer medical-only questions
- Follow-up evaluations if your symptoms change over time
If you receive a decision that requires further medical clarification, we can discuss providing a supplemental medical opinion to address any clinical gaps identified by the VA.
This Isn’t the End — It’s the Beginning
A lot of veterans think the consult is the “big step” — and it is. But what really changes things is the quality of medical evidence established next.
We’ve seen veterans gain confidence because they finally had medical documentation that accurately reflected their symptoms. They didn’t quit. They stayed focused on the medical facts — and so did we.
If you’re ready for the next step, revisit our VA Benefits Guide to get grounded again — or log back into our Medical Evidence Portal to review your status.
You’ve already taken the first step.
We’ll help you navigate the medical documentation — one step at a time.
